Privacy Policy

Vinyl Restore ("the App") is published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the App.
1. Your Recordings & Audio Files
- Your audio never leaves your device. Recording, de-click, de-crackle, de-hiss, track-splitting, and export all run on-device using bundled DSP and a Core ML model on your iPhone.
- The App does not upload, transmit, stream, or store your recordings on our servers.
- Original and restored files live in the App's sandbox on your iPhone, and are removed when you delete the App or the corresponding library entry.
- If you choose to share a restored file via the iOS share sheet (Files, Messages, Mail, AirDrop, etc.), you control where it goes — we do not see it.
2. Data We Store Locally
- Library & restore history: File paths, durations, source type (LP, 45, 78, cassette, reel), RPM, per-stage strength settings, track-split points, and timestamps for each recording. Stored locally via SwiftData.
- Preferences: Default strengths, default export format, RIAA setting, theme, and notification settings.
- Daily usage counter: A local counter that resets at midnight to enforce the free-tier daily export limit. No counter data is transmitted off-device.
- Purchase status: Subscription state is managed by Apple's StoreKit and cached locally for feature gating.
3. Permissions We Request
- Microphone & audio input: Only when you tap "Record" to capture from a turntable, audio interface, or the built-in mic. We do not record in the background or while the App is closed.
- Files / iCloud Drive: Only the audio file you explicitly pick is imported into the App's sandbox. We do not enumerate your storage.
- Notifications (optional): Used only to notify you when a long side finishes processing in the background. You can disable this in iOS Settings.
4. The Premium Studio Model
Premium subscribers can download an optional Studio model for deep crackle on old and worn records. The download fetches the model file only — your audio is never sent off-device. Once downloaded, the Studio model runs entirely on your iPhone like the rest of the pipeline.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages subscriptions and purchases. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Google AdMob (free tier only): Displays banner and interstitial ads to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers for advertising. Where applicable, we present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can decline. Your recordings and restored files are never shared with AdMob. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Premium subscribers see no ads and trigger no AdMob requests.
6. Data Storage and Security
- All recordings, restored files, library data, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- No audio data or device-identifiable content is transmitted to or stored on our servers. We have no servers that hold user audio.
- Purchase verification uses Apple's secure StoreKit framework.
- The App's core record-and-restore feature works completely offline.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your recordings with any third party. On the free tier, Google AdMob may collect device-level data for advertising; your audio content is excluded.
8. Your Rights
You can:
- Delete individual recordings from the Library tab inside the App
- Delete the App to remove all local recordings, library data, and preferences
- Disable Notifications and Microphone permission from iOS Settings at any time
- Decline ad tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or in iOS Settings
- Request information about data handling by contacting us at privacy@bulpara.com
9. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and is not intended for use by children under 13. The audio pipeline collects no personal data; the free tier's advertising is provided by Google AdMob under its own policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
